Dark Frame Library? new
      #2090569 - 01/02/08 05:22 PM

After I was done shooting the Horsehead last night it was time to shoot darks. With 4 different exposure times it took 1.5 hours to shoot all the darks necessary.

Is it possible to make a "dark frame library" to draw from? How would you compensate for temperature or would you organize the library by temp?

Since I have all the equipment here at work, I was thinking about setting my camera up in a chamber and running it during the day. So I was wondering the same thing... Flats I understand cannot be used from a library as the lens(es) are not exactly symmetrical. In addition to rotating the camera, I think focus could change the flats too. Not sure. I'm still waiting for my a clear night with my latest setup.

Organise your dark library by exposure length, ISO and temp. Group temp into 2 degree centigrade bins

I found I have to reshoot darks every few months, as a new hot pixel or two will show up. So I sort them by date too.
