Comet Holmes 1/1/2008 new
      #2089959 - 01/02/08 01:44 PM Attachment (27 downloads)

Just to show it is still there, I took this image of the
comet the other night. It is barely visible from my site
with the unaided eye, but the surface brightness is really
low. Not much easier to see in the finder or the scope.
This is about the last image I think I will get of it (for
which I think everyone will be grateful).

80mm ED triplet at F/4.8, unmodded Canon 350D. 7x2 minutes
at IS01600. I had a real issue with gradients due to the
need to stretch the image to get a decent view of the comet.
This image is full frame. The comet is now over 1 degree in
size.

Thanks, Tom Davis
