Another post made me think. I always say YES when asked about Daylight Savings Time, b/c in TN we use it, but then I started thinking, does it mean do we USE DST? or are we ON DST?
And now, what does the question mean? The reason I ask is my new ETX80 slews pretty good, but it always a LITTLE off... could this be something to do with it?
This may be a beginner question, so pls move if need be, but it was specific to my ETX, my only GOTO!
thanks fellas, and ladies !

So is NOW when we fall back or spring forward?
It would be fall back or an hour later correct?

No, we've fallen back to standard time, we are not on DST. Hope that improves your Goto accuracy.

You must be referring to my post. I thought the same thing -- do we USE DST... I thought it was a dumb question as the thing asked for my zip code -- you figure it out! I just said yes and figured it would calculate +-1 hour as necessary. I was ready to punt my ETX125 over the fence since my alignment failed and my gotos sucked. As I laid in bed I thought about it and wondered... Yep, are we IN DST at the moment... I changed it to NO and my alignment and gotos were spot on...

Thanks fellas, I guess I over thought the subject. I'll get out there again, its new should I train drives anyway?, just so I can say I did, or wait a bit? Now if it wasn't 9 degrees outside... in WEST TENNESSEE !!! Thanks again!

Yes, you have to train drives... If you don't, I suspect you will have difficulty getting accurate gotos. The train drives teaches the controller what kind of play to expect when goto-ing and increases accuracy. Follow the procedure carefully and make sure your mount/scope are extremely level before training drives as you don't want to introduce error anywhere in the tracking mechanisms.

I guess you could try it both ways (DST on and off) and see which one centers better. Might do that -- as I have no idea at all what I'm on here, and my centering is just a little off. I'm a believer in training drives, in any case.
