LRGB Filters new
      #2090274 - 01/02/08 03:34 PM

(Dunno if this is the best forum to ask, but here goes.)

Is there a better deal for a LRGB filter set than the Orion Multiple 5-Filter Wheel and LRGB Filter Set?

Depends what you mean by a better deal :-)

If you mean cheaper, then I'm not sure - that deal looks pretty good.

If you mean quality, then I'd say definitely there are better quality filters (eg Astronomik RGB dichroic). The filters in this image look to be coloured glass, not so good for imaging but maybe ok for visual use.

update: ok, so the picture of the product shows coloured glass filters, but the description says they are dichroic, I should have read the fine print :-)

cheers, Bird

The specs. on these filters. They look the same as the Astronomik filters to me.

I just got the Orion filter wheel and filter set at the Sale price. The filter wheel is very nicely finished, smooth, and tight (Made in Portugal). The filters are nice, dichroic; designed for imaging. I don't have my IS camera yet, but will try the system out with the STV.

I have the set (of course I bought the set with filter wheel just before the sale ... bummer). now just need the weather and time to allow me to try them out. But I did get a second filter wheel for general viewing filters since the wheels are not easily gotten to interchange them.
