I just got my Orion catalog and noticed they are now selling Coronado PSTs and the Solarmax 40. They are also advertised on their website. I bought my PST a couple of years ago from Orion.

Paul and I just saw that today too from our catalog. I didn't see it on their website a few weeks ago when I was looking up "h-alpha filters" for night time imaging.

The catalogue credits Emiel Veldhius and Oldfield. Congratulations guys!
Orion prices the PST at $659 and the Solarmax 40 at $1,659. I wonder if those prices will change if Lunt's stuff is a smash hit?

If the new stuff is that good I would not want to own any PST stock.

Depends, the PST is still a nice portable scope! Depends if there is anything comparable to come out.

Good point. Any news on what Lunt will produce?

I think the PST is hard to beat, it's optical quality is superb, portability is unbeatable at this moment. In terms of price, Lunt only have the LS50 that have the same price range as PST. The lunt filter cannot be used by itself without a refractor while the PST is a grab and go.
Unless Lunt system can come out with something special , I'll stick to the PST. The PST is a dedicated and optimised for h-alpha while the Lunt system requires a purchased of another refractor to be able to use, unless the LS60 which is not the same price range as the PST.

I'm seriously considering the 60mm, but that is another "topic" altogether.

Oldfield, I'd be happy to send you my catalog. It's got a beautiful image you did with the SM40.
