Hmmm...so is it Model 114 or Model 128. The seller seems a little confused.

Is that a real unitron tripod??????? It looks exactly like the cheesy fold up hardware that came with a bottom line 1970's rolled steel tube 50mm refractor that someone gave me... Beautiful scope other wise...

Wow...Looks in great shape. I'd like to own a good deal here. Would somebody consider loaning me some money at a nominal interest rate so I too can get in on a bargain!! Mike

Yeah... starting price was $1100, so the seller wasn't shy, huh?

If I am going to pay $1000 for a 60mm scope, it's going to be a Zeiss Telmentor, Nippon Kogaku, Goto Kogaku, Pentax, or Takahashi. No offense to Unitron.

If I'm gonna pay $1000 for a 60mm scope, the tube better be 24K gold.

I think the selling price for that particular telescope was very fair. Consider that this is a early 60's model. This vintage mount is a little heavier and a touch larger than the newer mounts Unitron supplied with the model 128's. I think Habsberg recently had one for sale and mentioned it was close to the 142 series EQ mounts. The scope package had a duetron, a unihex with eyepieces including the 40mm. The solar projection screen is held in place by Unitron rings similar to a Unibalance assembly. Newer 128's had the single piece mounting bracket. All the cases including one for the duetron, Unihex, mount,OTA, and tripod were included. Last but not least it included the motor drive. A item that could easily sell for $250-300 if one came available for sale. Who knows what other little goodies may have been included.

Nope, the one I have has no metal points on the tips, but other wise looks identical, tho possibly lighter weight wood...... mind, I ve never seen a unitron up close and personal....One height only and the only thing to keep it from collapsing is the little metal tab held on by one screw.--The folding legs are sort of stilty and knock-kneed, about the way I look when I go bowling..
