Did you ask about the other customer name/address and phone number on the box? Obviously it was shipped out more than once...

Yep, they say this guy was not one of their customers and i'm apt to believe them. I'm thinking a new mount was placed in this box by Meade. Probably recycled the box from the previous owner of another mount(at least I hope it was another mount). I'll be calling Meade just for the heck of it.

I would say if the mount looks new, and seems to work as a new product should with no noticeable problems, then don't worry about it and move along. It's not as if there's much you can do except to get all frustrated and rant and rave. I would certainly keep the evidence though, so if the product starts becoming faulty in an extraordinarily short amount of time, you can insist that your mount be replaced, not repaired, given that you appear to have gotten less than what you paid for.

Yep, I agree on all points(and it DOES look great/as new). I'll be giving it a go-round in less than desirable weather tomorrow night(supposed to be 8 degrees around here). We know how much this mount loves ice cold weather. LOL

I"m not all that worried, as i'm sure it'll work just fine. If all goes well, i'll fire off the Warranty card and leave well enough alone.

Good decision, Rob... As long as it's under warranty, no problemo. Also, like Neo and Mark said, if it did go back, it probably performs better now than the assembly line mount would have anyways... Enjoy your new mount, and post a pic of it on the "Show off your mount thread"...

I can tell you that I got a recycled outer box when Meade shipped my last LXD-75 back to me. The inner box appeared to be the same. The foam was even brand new! However, the outer box was not the same as the one I returned to Meade.

This can happen from time to time. I had a package show up recently that had the outer box destroyed by UPS. The inner box and contents were fine but I would not have been able to reuse the outer box. I can see Meade recycling boxes and packing materials - would even encourage it.

So, I tend to agree that if everything appears new then enjoy your new gear...

Hmmmm.. I'm still waiting on my NEW (though never worked) LXD75 mount to be returned from Meade, it's been almost 3 months.. Pray tell "Darren Walker" wasn't on the sticker?
If it is, I want my mount back!!!

Not to worry, that is NOT the name. Although, there's a part of me that wishes it was. That would be TOO funny.
