Leslie Peltier - merry-go-round observatory new
      #2094119 - 01/03/08 09:38 PM

in his book, Starlight nights, Peltier talks about an observatory where the person sits inside, and the whole thing moves.
anyone know whatever happened to that observatory?
anyone make anything like that?

it seems Peltier made a lot of observatories where the person sit on the inside (such as the Stellarfane turret, and the home in Maine (?)

Do a google search for Merry go around Observatories
or Carasoule Observatories.

Also look in back issues of Sky & Telescope Magazine.

The original is property of the MVAS (and has been restored). Last I knew was sitting out at their dark site- the John Bryan State Park. I believe it's still there.

Here's the website for the merry go round observatory:

It was my distinct pleasure to speak at Apollo Rendezvous two years ago (2006), and I actually had a chance to sit in it. Pretty cool!
