I was at the UO website today and came across these:
Widescan 10mm/15mm/20mm. Quote:
"5 elements in 4 lens groups yield a beautiful panoramic view of the heavens. Full multi-coatings blackened lens edges, rubber eyecups, and captive bolt cases" $59.95 Unquote.
Seems like a very nice price. They look identical to the Moonfish widescans as well which have recv'd alot of good press.
I'm guessing these are Taiwan in origin but not 100%. Any feedback or more details on these ep's would be great. Thanks - Darren

I'm itching to pull the trigger on these, but I really would like to hear from others who have tried them.

If these are identiacl to the other 80 degree knockoffs (Moonfish, Agena UWA, etc.), they'll work well in your f/9.3 scope, but not so well in your f/5 scope. Eye relief is tight, which is their other downside, and some have reported some internal glare. If the tight eye relief doesn't bother you, they make nice ep's for DSO's in longer scopes.

At one time, I was looking for a "widest field" 1.25" eyepiece and bought a Widescan 20mm , then advertised as 80 degree AFOV. I considered the astigmatism excessive, (for me), in my f/5. I don't wear glasses so eye relief was OK. I believe in later versions, the glare, (contrast), was improved by reducing the AFOV to 70 degrees with a smaller field stop - lopping off the worst of the viewed astigmatism. I sold it to a C8 SCT owner - he was pleased with it.

The agena and wo swans are essentially the same ep. Agena seems to have the better quality control as per this CN review. http://www.cloudynights.com/item.php?item_id=1668 Garrett optical also has a version of this ep in 15 and 20 mm for 39.95 which is a steal.

I had purchased these three eyepieces from Agena some time ago. The 20mm and 15mm were nice for the $. The 10m had a very tight eye relief. It didn't get used much.

Thanks for the input everyone!
I'm going to place an order for the 15MM/20MM Agena SWA's
Hopefully it will compliment my new Pentax 8/12.5mm XF's
Thx - Darren

As Eric ponted out, in your f/9.3 these will be wondeful EPs. It would be good to hear your impressions of their performance in your f/5 versus what they do in your f/9.3 !

The term "widescan" threw me at first as I also believe they are the same as the the Agena, Owl, Swan and Garret SWA's. Actually Garret calls them all Plossls if If I recall.
