i would personally buy the Astrozap. i was looking at the Astrozap, but not sure if it will do much of a difference. the dew shield i made works pretty well for me, but after awhile the dew starts accumulating. i tell how i made it on my blog under the equipment section. you might want to check it out. it only costed me about 3-4$ soo i would try it before you spend more on something that might work the same!

but if you don't make your own i would go with the astrozap dew shield!!

I have the Astrozap for my 90. Works great, looks great, lays flat -- it's flexible, with velcro. Whether it's worth the money is a good question in terms of it use as a dew shield, but I like the fact that you can unroll it and lay it flat, for portability reasons.

my homemade dew shield is pretty much the same. its made with velcro. and i lay it out flat in my eyepiece case when not using it to keep it save!!

I have the Meade hard plastic dew shield, which I consider to be very overpriced, especially since the threads are already stripped after only a dozen or so uses. It's very easy to cross-thread such a large diameter fitting.

I did, however, find that it can serve a very handy, if unintended purpose. I don't like flipping it around and sliding it down onto the OTA for storage because I'm afraid it will eventually scratch the scope's finish. I had it in my astro-tool case for a while, but other items were scratching the shield. I finally realized that the shield fits perfectly around the bottom of the tripod when the legs are folded in for storage. Instead of using a bungee cord, I now wrap a hand towel around the legs, then slide the dew shield over that. It holds the legs together tightly and makes the whole thing easier to get in and out of the tripod tote bag.

Anyone know how the Astrozap shield attaches to the ETX OTA.
