I am very impressed what I read in this forum. The ETX forum members are doing amazing things with their scopes. Here is what I have done with my ETX-60. I have converted it to a dedicated solar scope by sandwiching Baader film between the objective lens elements. This makes it a failsafe solar scope for public solar viewing. Works Great! I also installed a 3-1/2" 6-32 machine screw through the lens cap that functions as a sun finder. I find the weak link in these scopes are the eyepieces, the f/5 scopes need better eyepiece than they are supplied with. Lynn
Nice work, I have always been worried about custom made solar telescopes as if they are made incorrectly, you'd have a fried retina. I use a screw on filter, it seems that your method works just as well.
Please post pictures, I am especially interested in the sun finder.
