M42 First Light QHY8
      #2105559 - 01/08/08 02:50 PM Attachment (60 downloads)

First clear night since before Christmas and I have been dying to try my present. Last night I manage 40 minutes exposure of M42 in 10 minutes subs. As I never used a colour camera before I didn't know what to expect but I was quite surprise at how easy the camera was to use. However I was totally foxed when the pictures shown black and white on the screen. As to the processing I have a fair learning curve to understand what is going on and how to get the best out of the camera. Here is my firts attempt so any comment as how to improve the processing will be very useful.
thank you for looking.
Vince

Doesn't this belong in the CCD camera forum?

Nice first light though!

Nice! My first take at M42 with a unmodified Canon XTi:

Nice first light attempt at M42. It looks like this camera is pretty good at picking up faint areas in just 40 minutes.

Nice -- it's certainly a lot better than my first try at M42.
