Canon 40D / Canon XTI and ....

I'm kinda new in this area, just want to know what the difference is, or what gives you the best results for Astrophotography.
The Canon 40D, Canon XTI or . . . they all have 10.1 MPixel
Do some of them have settings that might be usefull for astrophotography, like noise levels or so ?

Please let me know what you think or what your experience is.
