Wow... there's nothing else that comes to mind! 
Well, now that I'm thinking: what were the exposure lenghts? What prog did you use to combine it? And, finally, was your color balance thrown off by the UHC filter?

I shot 28 subframes in 8mins at ISO1600, and 8 subframes in 2.5mins at ISO400.
This is the first time I use IRIS to decode, preprocess, align, stack...so on
UHC did changed the color balance a bit, even after I custom color balance my camara, but color is not bad after process. UHC seems do the nice job of supressing the light pollution and enhance the contrast of the nubula.

Superb image of M42 -- it's amazingly smooth. I also like the subtle outer nebulosity.

Sorry to bother again, but I'm astonished by the lenght of exposure you've been able to do with the filter. Since I'm in the process of buying a filter myself, I'm curious of how effective those filters are.
So, enough chat: how long were you able to go without the UHC?

Without the UHC I may cut the exposure time down to 1/2 or 1/3. There is little light pollution in my shotting site, so light pollution filters such as LPS and UHC is a necessity to help to bring out the fainter detail.
UHC is especially suit for shotting emission nebula rich of Ha and OIII, helping enhance contrast and s/n rate, however, at the cost of 2X or 3X of exposures time.
