I am wondering if somebody is using a binoviewer with the ETX... I have a ETX125 and I am thinking in the binoviewer since it could be much more comfortable and besides increase the contrast

With the ETX-125, you have to be very careful of weight/balance. The binos may just be too much for the drive train.

I've used a W.O. binoviewer with my ETX125 with good results. The binoviewer itself multiplies the power by 1.3X and it comes with a small screw-on barlow which gives an extra 1.4X (for a total of 1.8X). So with two 26mm eyepieces I get about 90X and 126X.

Thank you denqwer. Do you know the weight of your W.O. binoviewer? Do you use some counterbalance? Do you use it regularly with your ETX125?...sorry for all the questions...

I recently bought an Orion binoviewer (it looks like a rebranded Burgess). I haven't tried it on my DSX-90 yet but one of the reviews I found on the Web mentioned they could be used on an ETX-90 without using a Barlow. The weight isn't too horrible (738 grams with two Meade 26mm Super Plossls) but it could be an issue. My brother has an ETX-125 and I'd love to try them out on it, they work great on my LXD75 SC8.

I don't use the binos very often (mostly on the moon). I don't use counter weights but it seems that the scope is operating at its very limit. If I used them more often I'd surely make some kind of counterweight system.

Wow, thank you so much for your replies. One last question: do the binoviewer dims the objects? I mean, you use this mainly for moon and planets, but how about DSO?

I've had my binoviewers less than a week so I haven't run them trhough their paces yet, but my first impression is that the level of comfort you gain from using both eyes more than offsets any light loss from splitting the image. There just seems to be something about using both eyes that reduces eye strain and makes it so much easier to see clearly. As I menion in the post on my observations thins evening, I was shocked at how good M42 looked through an ETX-60. I think these things would be just the ticket for an ETX-125.
