First Image with Olympus E-510 new
      #2125698 - 01/16/08 11:17 PM Attachment (106 downloads)

I only had time to get a few shots of the Moon at 1/250" at ISO 400 with a lumicon OAG on my TV102 on Sphinx SXW mount. The live view with 10X focus is amazing! I cannot wait to polar aligne and guide with my Meade DSI and PHD.

Excellent moon image -- the focus looks really good, and you captured a lot of detail.

The live view display has a user moveable rectangle that can be magnified 10X for focus.
Thanks again everyone for there kind remarks.

That is a crisp shot. The live view looks like it does a great job at focus assistance. I can't wait to see more from that camera!

Cool, what adapters did you use? I have the Oly OM-4/3rds adapter and was thinking of hooking my E-510 up to my SV-80 scope using a SV CA3 2" camera adapter. Also trying to figure out how to connect it to the trinocular port on my microscope... (read: I'm basically clueless about adapter hardware and have to mail order for parts)

with the om to 4/3 adapter you will need a t-adaptor and if your scope doesnt have a mount for the t adaptor then you need a photo adaptor to mount to then slide in the eye piece.

anyone familiar with Olympus E-410
I see prices have dropped alot (under 500$). seems very capable feature wise and similar to 510.
It says it can do dark subs to on night photo, not sure its usable for deep sky photo work.
I think it can do 60sec exposures, was thinking maybe to get it as dual role (prime focus and daily DSLR

The E-410 is the same as the 510 with out IS and a few auto settings. I got the E-410 for Christmas and it is a very good camera for the price but I was not happy with AF in dim light and low contrast. It was nice and light and worked great for most all other photos and the kit lens was good as well. Because of the slow AF and lack of upgrad options I ended up with the 40D and am very happy. I did lots of reading and the IS on the E-510 is worth the extra $100 over the E-410. Now if size is a problem the E-410 is smaller than the E-510. Hope this helps out.

The Olympus E-510 is $544 with a 14mm-42mm 3.5-5.6 Zoom lens. I have not gotten a chance to do any guided DSO AP, but I have noticed that noise is not a problem with noise reduction turned of in raw imaging at 400 ISO. LP limmits me to 3 min at 800 iso and 2 min at 1600 iso without a filter.
