I just purchased an ETX60AT without a tripod. I realize this can be used on a table top, but that is not very practical for viewing. Is there any simple way to attach this to a camera tripod? I have searched for a mounting plate, but everything I've seen is more expensive than the scope itself. Any ideas would be helpful.

Well, Rainbow, I tried wood, but it was too thick to work with the tripod attachment. However, you did get me thinking and I came up with a first class Rube Goldberg.
This is a metal bracket in the middle I bought from the hardware store for $2, and two speaker hanging brackets (I had them lying around) on either side of it. The ETX rests on it's feet and is attached to it's two points underneath from bolts that come up through the bracket. The bolts came from the mount of the Z10 when I removed the springs and installed the scope grip.
I've already attached the scope and it works like a charm.
Cheers,
Rich

Excellent job - looks a pretty sturdy tripod too.
