I an interested in getting a Coronado PST and just started researching them. I see that there were a few problems with them in the past.
I currently see 2 Coronado's on eBay - same seller. They say "Brand New in Box". I have requested the serial numbers to cross check them with the list in this form. Is there anything else I can do to make sure I do not get a sick one while still buying on eBay or astromart?

I think that it would be safer to go through a dealer with QC and/or return options. The eBay may be a great deal, or it may be someone unloading a defective scope.
If you want a used PST, consider our Shop and Swap or AstroMart-both have at lease some controls.
I agree buy a new one there are way too many problems that could happen to h-alpha equipment of any brand.
