Old ETX-90RA issue worth fixing?
      #2165581 - 02/03/08 04:12 PM

Hi,

I went to sell my original ETX-90RA and I noticed that the central mirror that is glued on the outer lens has slipped slightly compared to my newer ETX-90. I'm suspecting that I will have to send the unit back to Meade to have it recolliminated before selling. Or I might give the scope to my young nephew as-is - optically it doesn't appear to be far off and he might be able to get a few years of service out of the scope. Opinions?

Thanks,
-Mike

Yes this is a common problem with some of the earlier scopes.

Have a look here:

I sent my 90 to Meade last year for the same issue. Made a big difference in my case. Perhaps mine was misaligned more than yours. Anyways...Meade charged $75.00 for the service and I can honestly say that the optics are now razor sharp.
