Streaming Video via Yahoo!Live
      #2177768 - 02/08/08 08:00 PM

It's been mentioned on this forum in that past, that one way to share the video astronomy experience is to publicly broadcast it over the internet. There are several ways to do this, some methods being easier than others.

I ran across a new online video webcasting service called Yahoo!Live. It looks like a simple way to share video with any number of recipients, without burdening your own computer with more than a single video streaming connection. It's designed for webcams, but it might be possible to connect a MallinCam-type camera using a common tuner or frame grabber interface card. It's currently under limited beta testing, and can get a little slow during peak traffic periods. The video quality is not that great, but it would be fun to try. I've not personally hooked my MallinCam to my PC, but I know others have. Would anyone with the right hardware be interested in trying to broadcast a video stargazing session online?
