I've got the pier done! I've got two domes, one 7-1/2' and another that is 18'. I just don't have the money to put up the buildings. Also, I'm seriously thinking of getting the Hell out of New England, so, why bother?

Here is a plan.....First.
Get the h$%* out of New England...
Move to Washington....
And I will provide the space, and location to put up both of those domes, and all your scopes.
Down side....no more Stellafane.
There is the big Star party at Table mtn, and oh yes...the Oregon star party.
Think on it.

Multiple observatory structures here these days. So I could not really participate with the only able to choose one answer thing.

"Deep Think" was the computer if I remember that answered the question to "what is the true meaning of life".
Clarification: The computer, "Deep Thought", came up with 42 as the answer to "the Great Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything" after 7.5 million years of working on it. Of course, when asked what the answer meant, the computer couldn't answer, since "the Question" itself had never actually been stated.
(OK, so I'm a big fan of the original BBC miniseries!)
Trivia: IBM actually had a "Deep Thought" computer in the 90's. I believe it was the first computer to win a game with one of the great chess masters. I wouldn't doubt they got the name from the show.

Well, mice were a serious problem. Out here in the mountain west at least, field mice of all sorts are a major concern for anything. If a mouse can get it's head through a hole, it can get the rest of it's body through. In the Obs I had some major problems for a long time, still keep traps set and a few always get in.

First, you missed the roll off shed design. Two of the five observatories that I use, including the most frequent are sheds that roll off leaving low walls around the pier.
Second, when you ask what type yours is instead of what types. I use two roll off sheds, have access to two domes and own an observatory tent. Scopes range from 8" to 17.5", forks, GEMs and a Dob. I don't know if multiple answers are possible (select all that apply) in the survey form, but they might produce more accurate results.
As for preferences, I like the roll offs unless it's windy. Domes are a pain unless you need to batten down. Tents are fantastic for travel, but they wear out quick if you try to leave them up for extended periods of time.
Enjoy.
