I don't work for Ken's Ring but I really have to say Ken's Extra heavy duty vixen dovetail really rocks!
My NA140 suffers lots of vibration when the mount moves and then stop. No matter which mount I use with this scope the vibration just keeps happening.
That really drives me crazy. I first thought the mounts don't really cut it....then I suspect it could be the 13" synta dovetail bar causing the problem
I thought about getting a Losmandy type dovetail but none of my EQ mounts can take that unless I shell out $200 or so for the adapter + plate.
Last week I checked out Ken's ring site again as I remember he does make custom parts. There is one on this site called Extra Heavy Duty dovetail which is the one I have right now.
Costed me around $103 for the custom made dovetail (13.25" long and special hole placements by my request). Price is okay I think for customized job.
It arrived very quickly and I am surprised.
This dovetail definitely is light years ahead of the Synta's extruded aluminum dovetail. It's heavy and you really can feel the weight.
How does it work? Well, when my NA140 on my Sphix SXD with the synta dovetail...serious vibration after the slew-and-stop + tons of annoying micro-vibration during tracking...... NOT with the Ken's dovetail.
Beside the SXD mount this dovetail is probably the best investment for me. Like it. My only complaint is that the paint that all Ken's products is so easy to chip off.....need to do something about it.
