Howard, great article. I too have chosen a smaller telescope and easy set up. It does make a difference.
I had a little larger scale change than you. I went from a 13 inch f/5.6 Newtonian to my 6 inch refractor on a Sirius mount, but the journey is similar. I really like the fact that the new scope is easy to set up and demand no 100 pound lifts to get it all together.
I have only had a chance to get to dark skies three times with the new scope, but I am happy with its performance and the Sirius mount does a great job.
I would enjoy hearing some observations with the 110, how much can you see in something like the Andromeda Galaxy or the Double Cluster?
It sure sounds like we are having fun; Steve Coe

Nice review. I think that with the years, many people finish to follow an evolution similar to yours and Steve (and me). After some years of aperture fever, complicated and exhausting setups and heavy equipment, a high quality refractor can help to re-discover how to enjoy the night sky. A handy good quality refractor in a simple mount, and our sky charts and favourite books, is all what we need. I bought a WO FLT 132 (I was still slightly influenced by aperture fever) and I am extremely pleased with it.
