Did I capture my first plume?
      #2246269 - 03/09/08 02:57 PM

DMK: 200 subs stacked in registax

First time I ever used a 7nm H-alpha filter but this is the best I could do. I see others using the same or similar scope and having much better results. And looking at other posts today, I see there is some activity on the Sun that I can't seem to capture. I'm not sure at what exposure I should use...if I have good exposure to capture the roiling surface, is that too little for getting plumes?

I know I don't have a PST but I hope to get some better results...any comments are appreciated.

The h-alpha filters you see here are 1 to .2 Angstrom filters. Or around 100 times as narrow as a 7nm. You may indeed have captured a little prom there. Can you tell me the orientation of the image? You can use Tilting Sun to find it.

I just walked in and the proms are fresh in my mind.

I'm only about 70% sure that N is up here...but I mistakenly put a little tension on the usb cable that may have shifted it a bit. Oh well...it doesn't matter too much...I don't reall yhave the right equipment for solar pix Thanks!

No. At that bandpass I would expect the Solar disk to be overexposed to the point that even the surrounding space would appear bright enough to hide anything but the brightest prom in history.
