A full disc shot can be found here:

it seems like I've found a way to do a more even illuminated solar disc.

Thanks for the posting. I had a chance with a weather gap today and found your bright spot. I think it is going out of sight, but a nice event anyway. Robert

Excellent images. I love it when they are that close to the limb. The active regions near the limb looks like someone dropped a pebble into water.

I've just had a look at 1150UT. The bright spot on the limb jumped out as soon as I put my eye to the eyepiece, before I had the focus and tuning set. Some nice proms just to the south of the bright spot. Well caught, Oldfield and Robert.

There was another spot a plage almost dead center that formed late in the day, that too has faded away(according to SOHO)...If you look at last 2 EIT 304 images you can see it pretty easily...

There is NOAA *active region* 10985 or just AR 985 just going over the limb right now. Individual sunspots are not numbered, which something of the standard nomenclature which Spaceweather.com keeps screwing up a bit. It is putting up a nice limb flare (March 11th at 2145 UT) with a small bright surge prominence. My PST shows only it and perhaps three other very low prominences with a disk that appears nearly blank except for a small filament near the center of the disk. Clear skies to you.

BTW, is sunspot is term for white light or it applies also to H-alpha or other wavelength?

In fact there were several bright spot visible only if double stacking your PST. Had everyone else seen it? There were multiple some dim some bright. With single stack it was impossible to notice it. I saw the bright spot oldfield saw yesterday and at the same time seeing other spots scattered all over the solar disk. Have to look closely and train your eyes to be adapted to the h-alpha view to see it. My next upgrade will be a double stacked system for sure.

Sunspots are visible in H-alpha, although they may not have nearly as much contrast as they do in white-light filters. In fact, with a really narrow filter, the penumbrae edges get rather hard to see with all the overlying structure of the fibrils being visible. Here is a diagram of an active region that shows some of the sunspot detail seen in H-alpha filters (from OBSERVING THE SUN IN H-ALPHA):
