Strange red line, Anyone knows what is it? new
      #2258726 - 03/15/08 05:46 AM

While I'm unscrewing my SM40 DS module of my PST while still looking through my PST, I saw series of upright bright red line against a dark background. They seems evenly spaced. Then I hold the sm40 module in front of the PST objectives but this time tilting it more and saw those lines again. My wisdom tells me it's the interference lines of the filter.

Anyone got any idea?

The coherence length of a .5 A line is pretty short. But you are likely seeing the beat frequency of where the coherence aligns and mis-aligns. If you move the filter in and out (if my assumption is correct) you would see the lines fade in and out every couple of mm.
