Hey Richard
Whatever happened to the bale feeder obs you were making? Did that work out? Never saw the result.

Uh, here I am :slilding sideways Kraemer-style graemlin: late as usual! Haven't got my act together just yet, but soon, I promise! I've gotten a new roof on the house and new siding 'bout halfway done. The cement steps are gone, gone, gone and a nice porch is in. Lots happenin' but nothing on the obs, unfortunately. The bale feeder is a tad too bid and either needs adaptation or modification. I'm leaning toward an adapter, a conical frustrum of some sort in order to maintain structural integrity. I'll post the heck outta it when I get it going!
I've been busy making videos & posting them on YouTube. I'm the grey duffer at the start of Part #1! Thanks 10^6! Rich ---------------------------------- 3 Radio Astronomy Futures: ALMA, EVLA, SKA - Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMo4V2XO0S0

Well Richard when I woke up this morning I never dreamed that I would be attending a lecture on the future of radio astronomy. I really enjoyed the lecture on the new types of technology that is in the works. Mind you most of the info at the first needed a second look, but in the long run I'm a bit more knowledgeable on their end of the spectrum. Can't wait to hear word about this when these new scopes are up and running.
Thank you Richard for putting this lecture together, I wish I was in your neck of the woods to attend some of these lectures in person.

This was one of our CAS (Charlottesville Astronomical Society) monthly meetings. We do stuff like this each month! With the UVa Astronomy Department and the fine folks at the NRAO right here we're in astronomy heaven! I'm glad you liked the program. I noticed the view count increment by 1 view for several of the segments (and the rest increased by more than 1) so I figured there was somebody out there who was methodically watching them all!
I'm glad you enjoyed the show! The folks at NRAO have colloquia and seminars all the time at the headquarters building. I've attended a few and find them fascinating. Technical as all heck, open to the general public, not really much of interest to the general public (a bit over the public's head), but fascinating nonetheless. I'd love to put some of these on YouTube, but I have to earn a living at some point! If the NRAO wanted to hire me to do this full time, well I'd jump on that like a duck on a June bug! Rich

Rich, from Dr Adams,
We have started an on-line presentations resource at our new web site
http://www.nrao.edu
then Find Resources > Presentations.
I received this partial response from my feedback to him which you suggested I send to him. He also mentioned a couple of education officers, so that may be a future position for you!

Thanks, Mike! I've downloaded a couple of those presentations already. The PDF of the 3 Futures of Radio Astronomy is at the top of the list. Rich
