PST and Binoviewers
      #2278635 - 03/24/08 01:34 PM

I just ordered a PST Ha and I also have William Optics BinoViewers. Will I be able to bring them to focus or will I need an extension? If so, how long will I need the extension to be? I already have a 1" extension and a corrector that I use with my Dob. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

Don't think you will have any luck using a barlow.

You'll need a binoviewer corrector specific to the PST. Siebert makes such a corrector. I have the 1.3x OCA for the PST , works great with my BO binoviewer.

I also have a 1.3x OCA. But it is not made for the PST specifically. Will this make a difference?

Call up Harry Seibert and ask him directly. He's very helpful. My guess is that he'll talk you through a way to make what you've got work for you, or he'll make you an offer you can't refuse on something that will!

Cheers,

Jim

Yes, if it's the same one I have it does not work with the PST. I tried it. See photo.

PST oca is on the left left.Small lens cell threads into nose of binoviewer. Binoviewer goes into adjustable extension tube and then into PST.

Jeff: I almost have what you have. My PST is here, the 1.3 OCA is on the way from Harry, and I have the same bino's as you do. As soon as it arrives, I'll let you know how it works. I expect it is going to be OK. I also have the variable barlow coming from Harry.
