Thanks, friends of refractors. Yes sir, that is a Manon 60mm refractor of focal length 700mm. I have total control of that setup over ethernet from the house now. The only thing I cannot do is open and close the roof, power it up and down and remove lens caps. Well, since I dont have a pointing model, I do have to go out and calibrate on a star in the vicinity of the object being photographed. After a meridian flip I'm about 20 arcmin off aim.

Mike, You did yourself a big favor getting a 200mm TEC. A friend has one and it is spectacular.
I'm sure the 1200 AP holds it solid as a rock. That's half the battle. With the Clark I need virtually dead calm. The Byers mount is enough to hold it up and as much mount as I find practical to haul but it's not enough to hold it steady in a breeze. Saturday we had more than just a breeze.
On the other hand the 160 is a sure thing. Solid on the AP900. With the exception of "star power attraction" I would have been better off bringing the 160. The big Clark is a draw but it has its drawbacks also. My back for example is still aching today. I'm just too old to haul that around anymore in its current form.
It needs an observatory like yours or a trailer mounted pier and mount. That something for the future, maybe. In the mean time enjoy that 200.

Here's a picture of my Unitron 160 from last night. Now that I obtained the drive shaft I was able to use the weight driven clock drive for the first time. My father used to use the drive quite often.
This scope's story
Below is a 10 second exposure using the moonlight to illuminate the scope:

Thanks Zach and Scott!
Mike: You are correct! I had one of those bright red LED hat lights so I could see where I was going. Each step was methodically placed.
It's REALLY rough when you are breaking down the scope and are cold and tired. But the fear of dropping the scope, wieght drive and Super Unihex definitely provided the needed adrenaline to keep me going!.

Siegfried:
As you know, we had a GREAT night at SPOC on Saturday as well. I was broken hearted to find out that you had taken the Clark out again and I missed it.
You know I look forward to another opportunity to look through that scope. You need lot's of grandchildren with good strong backs.

Here is my little TEC200/9... it is only 280 lbs (complete setup). This is its photographic configuration as of late with the Manon achromat guidescope, Meade DSI Pro guiding camera, and SBIG ST237 main camera. Saturn and the Moon are pretty much it until August unless I start finding double stars.
That is one HELLUVA scope!

Scott, thats a lxd 650 mount. It has generaly tracked ok for me for just visual, but go to has not been exceptional over the years. I can probably gaurentee that it would do much better if I snuck up on Polaris more carefully. That scope was my "small scope" until recently. I got a 5 SE. Quite remarkable to me, hammers most everything in a 28 xl.
Cheers!

From the Police Blotter:
"Security camera captures Megrez and shady looking accomplice gaining entry to residence shared by long-suffering astro spouse. Clattering and banging of tripod against the screen door awoke the home resident from a deep sleep. Soon after this image was snapped, the "shady looking accomplice" experienced more intimate contact with the Megrez OTA, thanks to assistance from the long-suffering spouse. No damage was observed to the Megrez, due to it's superior ruggedness and build quality. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the impacted cranium. No charges pressed."
