Thanks Walter and Scott.
My only scope has given me a lot of beautiful views in really dark skies.

Curt B, Is that the new Orion SkyView AZ mount I see there? If so, do you like it? Can you remove the head from the legs and attach the head to a standard camera tripod?

Hi Ranger...
Yes, this is the new Orion SkyView AZ mount. I have not had a chance to try it at night, cloudy of course. But I did play around with it while I was aligning the two scopes. So far, I really like it. It seems very rock steady. It is a big unit, and weighs in at around 19 lbs. The size did suprise me when I got it. I am not sure if the mount will fit on a camera tripod. Maybe check with the Orion people on that one. I really see no need to put it on a camera tripod, unless you want to make it a bit more portable. The aluminum legs are VERY solid. The eyepiece tray/leg spreader is made from metal, not plastic. This is one very well constructed mount!

I have the mount as well. It is fantastic. I can easily track objects at high power with this mount. Very little vibrations with my AR5. The heade has a 3/8 bolt, so it should attach to just about any tripod, but the supplied tripod is more than enough. My only complaint is that I had to buy the skyview pro extension, because without it my AR5 would hit the tripod in several locations.

I may consider that mount. I am getting a TeleVue NP101 and I really like simple alt/az mounts. I was thinking if the head came off those legs I could use it mounted to a smaller but sturdy photo tripod for my TV85mm when I travel.

I love checking out other folks' gear. Great stuff in this thread (and the original)!
Here are my NP-127 and TV-85 mounted with ADM hardware. Both scopes are great performers. The Sirius mount is stressed a bit, but has worked quite well.
(I still can't believe I got that 8mm Ethos already and wasn't on a waiting list!!!)

A close-up of Anthony Davoli's work. I couldn't help but "personalize" my gear so much of the hardware and even the counterweights got a copper hammered finish paint job and even that Sirius red neck stripe got repainted ivory. The black, ivory and copper just seemed like a great combo.

Thanks, me too! The Dob to the left (an Orion XT8i) is actually my grandnephew's, and I will be headed to Tennessee to deliver it to him this coming Tuesday, June 24th. My dob is the 12" Lightbridge, but it resides elsewhere right now (the closet, too big to have out with these others). Also not shown is my little AT66ED, but I now own more scopes than mounts, so something had to give. Doug
