I did not test it, but I did make sure the lenses were inserted the correct way. I might buy another lens from surplusshed and see if that will fix the problem.

Here's my new setup - a real starhopper's delight: My W.O. EZ Touch alt/az head arrived and I've mounted a ST-80 beside my C100ED. The ST-80 makes a great super-finder which I really need in my light polluted backyard. I mounted the EZ Touch on a short pier (actually cut down from a 16" pier). Note also the extreme cost cutting measures employed by using a little piece of wood to mount the ST-80, instead of the W.O. mounting plates. My wife must be soooo pleased by all the money I've saved!!!
