Jim, Nice rigs, Just out of curiosity, whuch scope has the better view, the Genesis SDF or the Meade 102 ED?
Steve
Ooooh...I've been working on that.
At this point I will say the Meade 102ED has noticably better CA suppression than the Genesis SDF, most noticable on on the luner limb. Genesis is a bit more compact in size and has a wider field of view F/5.4 vs F/9, respectfully. Views of Saturn were similar, though if push came to shove the Meade would edge out the TeleVue. I have not had the Genesis at a dark site and that's where it will shine(fun factor) with it's wide field capability.
I'am holding on to both ota's at the present time, unless I go nuts and sell both off(among other items) for a NP-101.
Wow, that surprises me, an ED doublet having less color than a 4 element fluorite. Live and learn.

WOAH! The Ultra rare AP 10mm. Ive heard about these things you can actually inflate them and they can become any AP scope you want. They come in a small brass tube. Ive heard there are only a "handful" in existance. Haha.
good idea to restart this forum, this lat one took FOREVER to look through.

The customizations are the retractable dewshield, the mount ring, the WO focuser and the paintjob.
I added links for bigger sized images if anyone is interested.

I did not test it, but I did make sure the lenses were inserted the correct way. I might buy another lens from surplusshed and see if that will fix the problem.
The YUCK factor from surplus shed. My 90mm F10 objective from them WAS bassackwards in the cell and the cell was glued shut. So I had to remount the cell backwards. This almost fixed my problem. What was left was to align the cell square with the tube (needed a chesire to do that) and get some decent eyepieces. I'll post a photo soon, though in work photos are already up in other threads.

Here's my first foray into the refractor side of the universe, a Celestron 102 f/5. Just got it this afternoon, and waiting for night...(tick..tock..tick..tock)
I took a few pics of it next to it's big step-brother, my Obsession 15 (see next post below). Quite a difference in aperture, as you can see, but I have a feeling that the little guy will be getting used a LOT more than the reflector. I never thought I'd want a small grab-n-go, but realizing that I only take out the Obsession (to a dark sky site) on average of once per month, I figured I could use one.
PS..please, no comments about the 'expensive' mount! Actually one of the reasons I decided on this scope was the tripod-ready adapter. I'm sure I'll upgrade soon, but for now, this will have to do.

Hi,
Lately I've been more of a lurker on this site. I got a new to me ST80a about two months ago. I finally got a chance to get a decent mount for it. It's the Orion Astroview mount that came with my Astroview 6" f5 reflector.
I had to make an adapter to get it onto the mount. My Astroview is the older style mount that does not accept a dovetail. My brother helped me trim the edges so it would sit flat on the mounting plate. We even had clear skies to test it under last night! I wanted to show him Saturn, but did not have my barlow with to get the power up high enough to make out the rings.
Anyways, here it is, enjoy!
