Thank You Robert.I see you have quite a collection of APO scopes by Celestron.I am sure those are quite some impressive performers.

Here's one of my "older" friends. A 1960s Sears 76/1200mm refractor. Outstanding optics. The mount is very solid although hampered by somewhat wobbly legs.

Still, this scope can offer a LOT to a new astronomer who does not have a lot of cash to invest but wants good optics. No CA because of the focal length. This scope has enough in-focus that you can use a .965" to 1.25" adapter and therefore use a high quality diagonal and eyepieces.

The Sears and Tasco 3" scopes are very similar and pop up for sale quite often. Definitely worth considering - while you are saving up for that 115mm APO!

Preston...for a minute there I thought my scope was stolen. This Sans & Streiffe is indeed a performer! If things are snugged up the legs are not to bad! But I consructed a metal pier...much easier to navigate around too! Mike

Hi Mike!

When I saw yours last year with the 40mm finder.... I knew I had to find one!

Really like your pier!

I'm going to make a set of custom legs for the scope in my woodshop in a few months. That should help.

Hey, I'm going to send you a PM - wanna talk to you about the mount.

I wouldn't say that, Steve. It looks mighty fine from where I'm sitting!

I have enjoyed perusing this thread along with the original. I recently upgraded to a WO FLT 110 TMB...
