Norm,
A D&G APO? I have never heard of this before - I thought D&G made only long, well corrected achro's. What's the history as far as APO's?

D&G made a small run of Apo scopes many years ago. That company does do some surprising scope runs once and a while. Due the Apo market D&G dropped the Apos and made the scope we know today. The D&G Apos are hard to find little collectors scopes.

The trio of ETX scopes look really nice. I imagine you could have some fun with those three scopes at the same time!

My 6 inch yard canon on re-worked Meade feild tripod and extender with DiscMount DM6 with Sky Commander DSC. This scope provides very satisfactory views of the planets and is a great scope for wide-field views and DSOs. It is a great scope for viewing globular clusters. I am saving for a 120mm apo, but I will continue to make good use of this
achromat.

Regards
Daryl

A little history for those interested on the D&G.

In the early 90's Barry Greiner of D&G and his partner at the time decided to take a stab at the APO market and the end result was the APO 130. It was an ED doublet that operated at f9. Unfortunately there was a problem with some of the glass and only around 10 were ever made. That was a shame as it was an excellent performer. Maybe not as great for photographic use, but I'm not certain as I never tried to use it to take pictures. But on nights of steady seeing it made me a true believer in what a good refractor is capable of.
I was really sorry to see it go, but to make the A/P deal a reality ...well you know the story.

Hope this helps.

Great setup, Chris! And classy, too, with a genuine Persian carpet and an artist's easel! I'm impressed!

Ok, here's my newest ones, a WO ZS66SD and a Megrez 102EDSV. The 66 is mounted on a Celestron Nexstar SLT mount while the 102ED is on the Vixen Porta.

One of these days I'll have to get a picture of the whole herd!
