Jim, Welcome! You sure don't have to have Meteorites to participate here; just feel at home, ask any questions you may have. You already have the main criteria for posting here; you find space rocks fascinating

I'm amazed how this forum has exploded with so much interest.I new there could be a lot of "closet" fans out there, like myself, interested in meteorites and this proves it.There was a bit of reluctance when I first suggested starting a forum and I can understand why,but as they say
"nothing ventured,nothing gained".

Dick, I think in short while, this forum will really explode, as more members find it, & start reading the posts, & contributing.

It's one of the cheapest, & easiest part of Astronomy to get started in. Of course, like anything else, if desired, it could become very expensive.

Hi Mike,

I just wanted to say that I love your enthusiasm! You remind me of myself about 12 years ago. Never that let that interest and enthusiasm die. Keeps ya young

Thanks Walter, I consider that a high compliment coming from a veteran like yourself.

It's all a part of space-rock madness. It's an incurable condition, not too different from telescope eyepiece addiction. One is never enough. Ten is never enough. A hundred is never enough!

And we are all spring chickens compared to a 4+ billion year old meteorite.

A fellow member told me about this forum (thank you Walter) & i thought i'd say hello. I don't have to tell anyone here that meteorites are fascinating, but it is amazing that you can hold a piece in your hand that has traveled our solar system & survived it's earthbound journey to tell it's own story. Just imagine the sights they've seen *wow!*

I'm looking forward to getting to know more about the subject & will have to check in to this "southern" part of the site forum more often.

Thank you Carol.
After doing a little more reading this rainy afternoon, i've come to realize how extraordinary pallasite example's are. The sliced versions are stunning to see.
