Say Jim; is that you lookin' to see if the brats are done or what? I'm thinking we need to redo that avatar in hi-res on the next trip.

Hmmm...can't remember if I'm checking the fire in the hibachi, or...something else.

Yep; then we'uns all get the bratwurst and chili and carne adovada burros and chicken enchiladas and clam chowder and BBQ ribs and s'mores. Dill for all.

Well that did it for me Jim. After hearing that menu I'm bound and determined to do some cooking!

Well, a quick read through of this thread might prompt Saguaro Astronomy Club to rescue us with the hospitality tent.

As much as we scheme, though, we always end up with trail mix and pastries. Probably safer that way.

I'm thinkin' pork & sausage jambalaya. Something I can make on a propane stove in a big pot. Or maybe green chili and pork stew. Hmmmm.....

Browning the meat for that stew ahead of time would save you a lot of cooking time. On site, you could just dump everything in the pot and bring it to a boil.

Geeze, I've got to stop coming onto this thread to see what you guys are up to. Such good food...so out of reach for this Ohioan.

On the other hand, it ought to be a pretty good show watching Arizona go up in smoke all the way from my front yard.

That's what I've been doing for our Friday potluck lunches every week at work. Brown up the meat and have everything else ready to dump in the crockpot. We eat really good every week!

Erika, if you ever make it our here for a star party we'll definitely have a seat saved for the Princess Of Pyrotechnics!

You guys are always welcome here (David and Katie too, of course!). There's plenty of dogs, cats, and scopes to go around so you don't need to bring your own.

I've got plenty of matches too.....'cept for Scott. He's not allowed to have one. We'll put him in charge of cooking once the fire gets going.

Better still, why don't you all head up here to NW. With all our rain there's little chance that The Great Pyrotechnician could do any serious damage.

One caveat, no cranberries allowed.

Uh, oh... Did Erika do something unfortunate with cranberries?

I'll have you both know that after that first episode with those blasted things, I've finally tamed them and even have a half of a bag waiting in the freezer for me. Armed now with a huge pot lid, I will happily bring them to Maple Valley when we all meet up.
