I've the Meade DSI on loan but without instructions or CD - I've downloaded Meade Autostar Suite from their site but there's no help files for the camera. On their planetarium programe under 'Image' tab the 'DSI imaging' is listed [with LPI/ Pictor/Pictor autoguiding] and with camera USB plugged in New Hardware detected but can't find DSI drivers
The cam has a Sony SuperHAD Color CCD 510x492p USB 1.1/2.0 and I'm using XP Home on the laptop. Any help and DSI tutorial URLs appreciated
Just installed the DSI on my astro club's laptop (XP) this week. I did have the CD, but needed the latest version for the camera to work. Found it on Meade's web site along with various PDF manuals.
Looked under http://www.meade.com/manuals/index.html dsi_autostar.pdf (947 kb) is a quick reference and DSI_III_Manual.pdf (1318kb) a better updated version for all DSI camera models.
In addition you require .NET version 2.0 or greater to operate the camera. This was a install option from the CD, but old version of 1.x. Updated via Microsoft updates.
FIRST WORDS OF CAUTION ON INSTRUCTION
"The following procedure is also found on the printed Quick Start Guide supplied with this product.
Before you can operate the Deep Sky Imager camera, you must install the Autostar Suite software.
1. Do not plug the USB cable into your PC at this time. You will be asked to do so later in this installation."
After I installed AutoSuite the drivers were and pluged in the camera the New Device was dectected and driver loaded.
There is a FAQ http://www.meade.com/dsi_3/faqs.html on the Meade site, one deals with the situation of plugin in the camera before installing software. Can't seem to find it now.
