E.g. if you had Hyperstar (operating at f1.8 or f2.0) already, then you wouldn't... The more interesting challenge for ANY scope is: do you have enough in/back focus? With my Celestron Nexstar GPS 8 f10 FL 2000 I use the FR. You can now get the parts from ScopeStuff. My CR 150 HD has been slightly modified. I removed the stock Synta focuser and added a Crayford from Apogee (a unit that is no longer available). I don't know if the OTA is now shorter than the factory unit. I found on ScopeStuff an adapter ring (FRC6)that should fit the 150HD. That should subtract a least an Inch for the tube. Also I'm going to get 2" Crayford 2 speed focuser(FRM2)...the length looks shorter and much better quality than the piece of junk I have on it now. Plus I had to have a machinist turn down the 4" base to fit the Synta base on the OTA. ScopeStuff has the right adapters at a really low price.
