This is my first decent picture of Saturn. I am using a 6" home built Dob, K25mm EP, 2xBarlow, and a Canon T3. The picture is actual and not touched up in anyway. I tried using Registax but it keeps freezing. I am TS the issue. Anyway heres what I got.

I think I took a photo of the moon with a webcam a long time ago, so this technically isn't my first astrophoto. It is however my first 'decent' one, and was simply me pointing my Canon Digital Rebel Eos XS with a zoom lens at the moon. Should begin taking more challenging photos soon...

I've taken a couple of straight-through photos, this is my first stacked image though. I was surprised at how dim the camera image was on the screen compared to how it stacked. I also caouldn't believe that visually my image breaks down at 400x but this image was taken at about 1000x! There is quite a learning curve to this stuff... Now I need to work of my gamma and gain settings...

Here is my first astrophoto of Saturn taken with a phone, through the eyepiece of a Celestron 6SE:

Here is my first deep sky object. Captured here is NGC6946 and NGC6939. 35 subs at 100 second each for a total of about 58 minutes. 20 darks were added. No bias or flat field frames. (Still need to learn to take good flats.)

Captured with BackyardEOS. Stacked with Deep Sky Stacker. Processed in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

My first Astro Photo, M42, taken with a canon 40D, 100-300mm 5.6. 120sec, 300mm @f/5.6, ISO 1600. Taken after a painfully long time attempting to drift align my Orion EQ2 with just the camera and doing short exposures to figure out drift and corrections having never even read how to correctly drift align properly. this was taken over 18 months ago, 18 Oct 2009 on Fraser Island, Australia, when I didn't even know what drift aligning was. Given all that I am pretty happy with the results. This is the best of the 5 frames I took with the roundest stars and best extended detail. I know a lot more now and hope to take more shots soon, when my Atlas arrives, but this was my first shot!

Hi all, this is my first post ever on CN. My first astrophotography attempt wasn't the best, but I think it was good for a very first attempt. I tries M42 first because it is very bright and just visible from my light polluted back yard. I took it in December 2010 (I'm rather new to all this stuff...) using a Nikon D5000 DSLR in prime focus on my Meade LXD 75 SN 8.

Hi all,

This is my 2nd attempt at saturn (as posted on the nexstar page). The ccd camera im using is a skywatcher, it cost me 25 dollars 2nd hand. I'm pretty happy with the results of this image considering the poor quality of the camera!

Also, my first attempt at stacking a 3 second clip of the moon in registax:

Ok, not really my first photo, but my third. But its the first that I am pleased with! M-27 Dumbbell Nebula. Taken with a NexStar 8SE scope and mount - yes alt/az mount. 6.3 focal reducer and Canon XSi camera. 120 - 20 second subs, 20 dark frames, processed with DSS and adjusted a bit with Gimp. I am pleased and hooked!

Here are my first two astrophotos. Took them at ALCON 2011 in Bryce using a stock 18-55mm lens w 3200 ISO, either f/4.5 or f5, ranging from 15-30 seconds. Did not process images.

Here's my first astrophoto. It's 67 30 sec ISO 1600 f2 frames taken with a CPC 1100 hyperstar configuration and canon T3. I had a terrible time figuring out Deep Sky Stacker and then how to use photoshop elements 8.0 to try to make the final product look good. Any advice would be appreciated. I am happy with it for a learning experience. I have seen many M31 photos that really make me drool and I aspire to duplicate those. Baby steps... Baby steps...

Not my first picture, not my best picture, but the first I've posted here. I went hunting for Pluto using my astronomy club's pier-mounted C14. I knew it would be a dot in the field... but wasn't sure which. I took 5 30-second images and stacked them using Deepsky Stacker. Then I spent an hour or two using The Sky to try to match up the star field and then figure out which dot was Pluto.

I've played with brightness and contrast to make Pluto a bit more evident.

[image][/image] I've been into astro imaging for a little over a week and this was one of my first images, terrible vignetting and focus off, but hey, I just started.

meade lx200 10"
Eagle Nebula
canon 450D Hutech modified
1 45 second image without any editing or stacking (don't know how yet)
1600 ISO

Wow, that's a great first shot! Way better than mine! My only suggestion is to use flats to get the darker edges and corners corrected for. I am quite impressed here!
