I thought it would be good to put up my 1st attempt at anything astro related. It's obviously M31 but I will get something better with time and clear skies

Full frame on a Canon 5D and 600mm lens. Mounted on a NEQ6 Pro mount controlled by a EQ-direct link to a laptop running CdC and APT.

2 x 300 second exposures @ 800iso and 5 x 300 darks processed in DSS. I need a lot more subs to really lift this but I think I know where I'm going

First scope, first camera, first picture and a first impression. I was surprised there was so much light in this picture from all the yard lights.

New scope coming later this week, but camera showed up today, so had to play with it. Jupiter. This is my first attempt at taking photos. Looking forward to comparing this pic to new scope.

Scope: Meade DS-90 on super wobbly mount, aggravated by a 10-20 MPH wind
Camera: NexImage
Software: RegiStax

About 50 stacked frames, 1/300sec exposures

Great image for your first astrophoto. You have a lot of data there and hope you don't mind the histogram adjustment. Cheers.

Getting that first ever image is exciting, isn't it? I took mine with a 60mm/900FL refractor and a Microsoft Lifecam VX6000. I removed the camera's lens and shot without an eyepiece, with a 15% neutral filter taped over the front.

Honestly, other than the difference in field of view, I think you and I achieved about the same resolution. My next step is to devise some sort of barrel to better mount the camera and to finish building my dob-style telescope mount.

I also had some big time pixel noise and exposure issues. Copernicus is completely blown out.
