Just Curious to know if any of the members here own an AstroVid PlanetCam or an Imager from The Imaging Source. And if you care to share your experience with these products I would be Thankful.
I am looking to get an imager to use with a Meade AR-6(152mm F/8)Achro Refractor with a 2inch Baader Semi-Apo Filter.
I have an HP laptop with Windows Vista Premium,AMD Athalon 64X2 Processor,1GB of RAM,160GB Hard Drive,15.4Inch Hi-Def Widescreen with Nvidia graphics Card.And 3 USB 2.0 connections as well as a Firewire connection.And even an S-Video Output.And a DVD/CD +- R RW DL LightScribe Burner,and a 5 n 1 card reader.
So Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated.I Have about $500.00 to spend. Is Anyone Willing To Help?

I used to own an Astrovid Planetcam. I sold it after a few months and bought a touCam pro if that tells you anything. Never tried the other camera you mentioned.

No experience here either. My experience is limited to Stella CAM EX and 2 MallinCAMs. Roland

Todd,
Imaging Source cam family is a digital CCD cam (USB2 or firewire). It requires a PC to take in digital data.
Mallicam cam, Stellacam, etc. are long exposure analog video cam (same NTSC field us repeated multiple times until next refresh time.) Many are using the cam for better user experience (plug into a video monitor/TV) and a lot of people are using the cam for near-real-time visual-only viewing. Note visual (be able to see something that used not to be seen by eyes) tends to have a different image quality threshold than imaging (high resolution and high grade picture with "post-processing" penalty ).
AstroVid PlanetCam is also a videocam.
Clear Skies!
