I took my scope out on the sidewalk last night to view Saturn and the moon.I wanted to test my new WVAN 7mm from light polluted skies. When I looked at the moon there was a striking crater just past the terminator about halfway down.It was large and it's sunlit inner wall had bright ridges as well as small craters. There was a small sliver of light illuminating the crater's center, like the light from a hallway entering a dark room thru an ajar door.In the center was a peak of some type that only the top was lit. There was also a string of mountains leading up to the base of the crater. The surrounding valley had shades of gray and black streaks covering it.It was a truly amazing sight.I am heading out again tonight and will try to identify it.
That's the same two I thought it might be but the map I have shows no detail.Since the terminator moves each night I should get a flatter view tonight.Thanks,Rob.
That's it,Tommy.I just came in and your picture confirms it.It's cool how much the shadows change from night to night. Thanks alot for the help.Tonight I saw a shadow that looked like a side view of Godzilla with his head over a small mound.Maybe too much coffee?
