i signed up to y live, read the 'tips and tricks for skychannels', finally got 2 cams to work, but the quality is bad, the meade has much better quality, but it wont let me broadcast. i tried it with and without the meade software running, everytime i go to broadcast the 'encountered a problem, windows needs to close, and the page dissapears. kinda stumped, any ideas? hoping to sign up to shychannels as soon as i can get it to work on y live. thanks, john

THe DSI is not considered a video capture device, and as such is not recognized by the yahoo or Ustream broadcast plugins. You need another program to capture the screen like webcammax. What you do is after installing webcammax, start it up before starting your browser. Then when the yahoo or ustream plugin starts, it recognizes that as your "video camera". You then start the meade envisage software and set the webcammax source to capture the screen and limit the capture window to the size of the preview screen in envisage.
Hope this helps.

PS: I am using a Meade DSI to broadcast.

Stephan is absolutely right, but webcammax is 30$ and is known to be a CPU hog. It does work great though, and has a lot of functions. Another option is studiopro which is free, and less demanding on your computer.

No, first launch the DSI sofware, and use the studiopro to capture the screen, and then stream the studiopro on the sites.

Have you tried the 'Web Cast-overwrite file' function in Envisage? Just a thought.

thanks for the pdf, first problem i encountered, followed instructions and order exactly, meade software and image comes up fine, but when i start broadcaster studiopro, it says webcam is not available or is in use in another application. then when i close that window, the normal studiopro window pops up and the only selection available is my other webcam which is not even plugged in. i guess the studiopro cannot tell the dsi is available. thanks for your patience. john

At that point, it doesn't matter what you choose as a source camera, since we are not going to use Studiopro in that fashion. As well, your DSI will never show up anywhere as an option because it is not a video capture device.

i got it ! wooohooo ! stephan, your last post confused me as it seems it would never work. where i was going wrong was as you said, it will never recognise it as a capture device, it hadent occured to me to use the video capture record to capture the screen of the dsi. it was right under my nose the whole time. thanks everyone, there is good info here to the next person who has trouble with a dsi. much appreciated. john
