Last night the moon was about 3/4 full...not the time one would normally hunt down edge-on spirals smack in the Coma/Virgo domain not far from Luna.
Attached is a quick pic that represents Exhibit A in the compelling case for video astronomy. Visually I could barely see this galaxy with my 20inch and a 20mm Nagler. You can see the moonglow leaking in on the left.

That was with the 20 in. Obsession.
Skies were only so/so...My whole point is that this was an evening that I would have written off for galaxy hunting normally. The Mallincam extends ones observing opportunities by several days each month at a minimum...

That is the wonderful thing about astro-video. Nearly 1/3 of my nights are now under typically unacceptable conditions for the typical observer. For small aperture scopes, the advantage of using astro video with high LP or moon glow is just as noticeable. Roland

Yep, astrovideo seems to give me many more nights of observing. I don't sleep anymore, to many things to observe at the telescope.

I tripled my onserving nights when I had an observatory built for me by Scott Horstman (Backyard Observatories)...acquiring a Mallinam adds many more days per month.
More important, seeing real galaxy detail near-real-time; priceless...
