Price. B&H lists a roll of 36 Elite Chrome as $5.99 and Ektachrome 200 $9.95. Perhaps the the Ektachrome is considered 'Pro' grade and Elite as 'consumer'? Looks like the rolls of 24 not be made anymore.
Ektachrome is the same formula but produced in smaller batches. It is supposed to be kept in the fridge by the dealer. It also should be more fresh as Kodak puts a shorter expire date on it than the elitechrome.

Dear Lineman;
Kodak professional films are actually made at the same time and with the same emulsion as the non professional films. The primary difference is that the pro films are aged to reach the designed color criteria of the emulsion before released for sale hence they have a shorter shelf life and must be used by the date stated or they will suffer color variations outside their design criteria. Like bananas, the non pro films are released right after manufacture and are considered to be not quite "ripe" hence the longer shelf life.

does anyone know if the diff between Pro and elite makes any diff to the red sensitivity for astro work? ie. any point to buying one or the other besides price? since it tends to get used infrequently and new rolls can sit in the fridge or freezer for some time.
