I CAN'T believe it, saw this place this morning!! It was still dark, this place is just south of Charlotte (on Rt 521 in Indian Land) It is called Light City,Bright white lamps everywhere, giant pipes 30 feet tall with glass tops beaming light into the sky!!!. Lights without any shades!! Houses, condos, retail,oh my!!
We must be come more active with this problem. What is it with people and developers that believe more lighting is better?

I hope you brought your credit card with you, and I hope you know how to

We've got stripes and the stars and Uncle Sam's on Mars....

People.... are afraid of the dark... I live up in the NC mountains and see it every weekend. Weekdays are nice- very dark. Then all the Charlotte, Greensboro people come in and light up their yards and properties like Monday Nite Football...

I'd be curious to know more about that - are you saying they have lights pointed up?
That could be a great start for a sky preservation act in Charlotte - surely no one could justify a reason to need lights like that. And what's with the name - are they trying to attract people by being an overly lit neighborhood?

The problem with most lights are that the lighting,is such poorly designed, that the light is directed up as well as down. They need to have a full cutoff light where all the light is directed downwards. Then, everyone wins.

I live in Ballantine, and have you noticed all of the uplighting?many times, pranksters have turned the lichts the wrong way!!! maybe the solution is not to make all of the lights point DOWN, but at a 30-degree angle, or else they should have a shade. Blankeny shopping center is a big one that is trouble, as well as the doctor's offices across the street from it.please PM me about this....

Oooo, that makes me so mad! I'm from Lancaster, SC, and I know where Indian Land is. The thing about Charlotte is that it is spreading all over the place. And Indian Land isn't even part of it (or didn't used to be). That whole area is building up. Just look at Matthews these days. And 521 from Lancaster to Charlotte is nothing like it was when I moved away in 1968. I can't imagine living in constant daylight. What's wrong with people? It's SUPPOSED to be dark at night, for a reason. Our biology requires a certain amount of darkness every day. Maybe light pollution is affecting in ways that we are yet to discover. Bad ways.
