Yes, I saw the prototype at NEAF, too. Wow is right - looks good and the production models will be carbon fiber.

Mike let me hold it (and fondle it). It's very light with no corrector out front. I like the focal length (f9) - the 8 incher is only 1800mm or so.

He said the 8 inchers will be in next month, the 10 inchers around July, and the 12 and 16 inchers (gasp) later.

Definitely something to consider,

Ron

Anything about pricing for the 8" and 10". Sounds like you held the 8".

Also did anyone see the new GSO RCs or what that a no show?

Man, that new R-C has me intrigued to the max. As others have asked, at f/9 will this scope perform visually as well? I'm assuming it'll be a nice scope for photography...

I had the pleasure of testing one of the proto's for Mike and even with a stock GSO focuser cobbled on the back it was pretty dam impressive.

The piece I had was the one on display at NEAF minus the fully baffled tube and FT focuser. Fighting the GSO focuser I was able to run 7 roddiers on the scope and not one was below 1/12-14th wave and strehls ran from 97's to almost 99.

I'm hoping to get the 8" back again to try with a QHY-8.

I did not do any visual with it but in all honesty you really wouldn't do much visual use with a "Real" RC anyway. There are quite a few scopes that would offer up the same/better performance from a visual standpoint . The difference becomes apparent the minute you hook a camera to it. With the 2" focuser your looking at a 44mm+ image circle with very nice star shapes to the edge. I was not able to run any CCDInspector reports on it but it looked pretty dam flat using a 40D sized chip.

Very Interesting,Indeed.I would be very interested in seeing pics of the scope,as well as hearing how it performs .

I wonder also what hi-end features will be left off of the 6inch model to keep the price low for an RC design.
