Their would be some little changes I would make though. Tell you latter.

Nice digs! First priority is your health. I had L2-L5 fused about three years ago; hopefully the observatory will negate the need for lifting anything heavier than a Nagler eyepiece. Regards and keep us posted.

Hi guys,
Thanks Ron & Jim,
My surgery was L4 L5
Sorry it took a while to reply back. I have been tacking care of my mom since she had hip replacement surgery.
We have our first snow of the year, so I have to check out the roof.
Later, and happy holidays.

Hang in there Alan, hard part is over. L4 & L5 are my issues too. Pretty common area to mess up.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Ya,
It all takes time. I have Degenitive Disc Dease.
Are you going to have surgery?
Good luck with yours.
Happy Holidays all.

Heck no! Came very close, but the body started to heal its' self so I backed off. Took over two years though. With degenertive disc diease you have a tougher case. Probably genetics in your case; mine was just too many hard falls and such. When you look at the mechanics of a back walking up right does not seem to be such a great idea.
Looks like a very nice scope you have there, does it perform as well as it looks?

Do you have to clean that stuff off or does it slide off with the next good sunny day?

Observatory looks like a cozy place to spend an evening under the stars; Sorry to hear about your family's health problems; when it rains it pours; I would like to build an observatory, but don't have room on this sub-urban postage stamp. The day will probably come when I can no longer lift heavy scopes and mounts; a heck of a prospect with a progressive case of aperture fever! If the human back were an aircraft, it would have been grounded decades ago for bad design!
Regards,
Jim

Thanks,
So far the snow slid off, which is the ideal thing.
My family's getting better.
You can always sink a pier and have some type of roll off box, then it wouldn't be a perminment building.
All kinds of ideas to look at.
