ELECTRONIC EYEPIECE new
      #2371066 - 05/04/08 04:12 PM

I bought a portable Sony DVD player to use with a Meade electronic eyepiece, picture wants to roll, ( no horizonal hold) on screen. Am I getting wrong kind of signal from eyepiece? I thought I read somewhere that these were being used together. If not, what can be used with DVD player. THANKS

Usually it's one end out of spec. such that H-frequency can not be acquired and locked-in.

My gut feeling: (cheap) electronic eyepiece is out of spec. while SONY DVD player (used as video monitor) spec/tolerance is too tight.

Sometimes, slightly adjust elec. eyepiece's supply voltage may alter the frequency enough such that video monitor can lock in.

I used a fairly old portable DVD player as a monitor for my Meade Electronic eyepiece and it worked fairly well, so it can be done.

A well known issue on NTSC is:
it's also known as "Never The Same Color".

I should add NTSC spec can be losen a bit and some device will work and some won't. The infamous Macrovision (tweak beyond the spec.) is the best example.
Similarly, over the years I have seen incorrectly implemented video gears run into compatibility issues.

Standards are set up to determine which end/side is non-compliant.
