Thanks for the review. It is true that you have to really work with this eyepiece before you can make a statement.
I like mine very much though it is quite a lot of money for some more pleasure. I can use my Ethos only in the 2" mode as it does not go enough over a standard 2"-1.15" adapter - a weakness you did not mention.
I am happy that the new Ethos is an 8mm one (4mm with 2x Barlow) - exactly the focus length I am missing in my collection.
I will go for the 8mm later this year as I really enjoy the quality and 100° of this EP.

I found the review pretty much on target. This is the best TV EP since the 24 Pan came out. It really brought out the contrast and details through my TAks. Yes I agree it's pricey but well worth it when your see your 1st views through it. Now a 8mm Ethos coming out. Where did I hide that piggy bank???????

When you consider that the eyepiece is 1/2 of the optics in a telescope, I'm always puzzled that there is so much hand wringing over the cost; especially for an ep that represents a real jump in performance as did the Naglers "in their time."

In some of my scopes, the Ethos is the more expensive 1/2!!!

Orion 120mm f/5 OTA refractor...$300 Moonlite focuser.......................$320 13mm Ethos ep........................$620
As you say, the ep can cost as much or more than the OTA but IMO the combination is what is important; the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Stereo system....the speakers can cost as much as the rest put together.
